1997: MT GOES LIVE

Mario Töpfer strikes out on his own, opening the first chapter in what will be a story of success. He soon takes on freelance projects for the communications department at ContiTech. In November 1997, he founds MT-Medien in an attic apartment at Heidornstraße 2 in Hanover, his initials providing the company name. There, Mario focuses on B2B communications in the technical and economics space. In 1998, he signs up Deutsche Messe AG as a customer and recruits a freelancer to his still embryonic team. In 1999, the company moves to Hubertusstraße 1, where there is room for four employees. Varta (now Clarios) is added to the MT-Medien client list. In 2001, MT produces its first magazines for KKH and the machine manufacturer Berstoff (now KrausMaffei). The baking magazine back.intern joins the line-up.

MORE SPACE REQUIRED

The number of employees at the company is growing steadily, likewise its order book. As a result, in August 2007 the MT-Medien office makes the short move to Ferdinand-Wallbrecht-Straße 4, where a 200-square-metre space becomes home to ten workstations. In 2012, VHV begins a partnership with MT-Medien. Mario Töpfer breaks the million-euro mark for net revenues for the first time. In 2013, a limited liability company is formed. In 2016, net revenues hit an all-time high of 1.8 million euros. In 2017, Mario decides to look for a successor to take over the reins. Later that year, MT-Medien joins the global agency network IPREX.

BAMBERG TAKES OVER.

On 1 January 2018, Mario Töpfer sells his shares in the company to the Bamberger VerlagsGruppe. MT-Medien GmbH & Co. KG is formed. Heading the new operation are Gunnar Grünke (the majority shareholder of the Bamberger VerlagsGruppe) and Timo Lommatzsch. Mario Töpfer stays with the company as a consultant. In 2020, David Mache replaces Timo Lommatzsch. In July 2021, the agency moves to new premises at Listholze 59. In 2024, Kerstin Degener takes over as managing director. In 2025, the new name Lovebird Communications and corporate identity are created under her leadership.
